The Cleveland Guardians are playing their best baseball of the season right now.
Granted, they’ve played mostly bad teams lately, but their surge started before the All-Star break, and they’ve been able to build from that momentum.
Even so, Bruce Drennan doesn’t want to get too carried away.
In the latest edition of his show, he expressed his belief in this team:
“Let’s not get carried away. The road to the playoffs is still going to be a high mountain to climb, but, as I have said before, it can be done,” Drennan said.

The Guardians will have one of the easiest schedules remaining in the league.
As such, they should be able to keep on climbing the ladder and narrowing the gap between them and the last AL Wild Card spot.
Some believe this is nothing but a mirage, mostly because this team hasn’t looked as good when they’ve had to go against an actual contender.
As fair as that assessment might be, you can only beat whoever’s in front of you.
The Guardians are catching fire on offense.
They struggled mightily at the plate, and getting this type of rhythm in the final stretch of the season could be crucial.
More importantly, the fact that this team got hot right before the trade deadline could also have a huge ripple effect.
Now, they don’t necessarily have to be sellers.
As such, they can either focus on adding more firepower and addressing their flaws for the final stretch of the season, or at least hold onto their current stars instead of giving them away.
It’s not going to be easy, and the season is a long grind, but they’re finally trending in the right direction.
