The Cleveland Guardians entered this season with a lot of hype.
They surprisingly reached the ALCS last season and wanted to prove that it wasn’t a fluke.
Unfortunately, it isn’t heading that way.
However, Steven Kwan might be in the midst of his best season yet, which is a lot to say.
That’s why, after watching him save the Guardians with an epic defensive play against the San Francisco Giants, analyst Bruce Drennan gushed about the outfielder.
“Kwan has developed into one of the best hitters in the American League. He’s currently at a .298 clip, six homers, 23 RBIs, he’s got 14 doubles, nine stolen bases. He’s extremely difficult to strike out. He keeps fouling off pitches. He works pitchers consistently deep into the count, gets their pitch count up. But, remember this, he’s also one of the best defensive outfielders in all of the major leagues,” Drennan said.
Steven Kwan's development has been insane! #GuardsBall

If it weren’t for Jose Ramirez and his MVP-caliber numbers, Kwan would be the undisputed best player on the team.
Then again, even when measured by Ramirez’s standards, Kwan holds his own.
The Guardians still have an opportunity to do right by their two stars by adding much-needed firepower to the lineup.
Other than Kwan and Ramirez, only Carlos Santana has been a consistent contributor, and that’s just not a formula for success.
But, as Kwan showed in the win against the Giants, he isn’t just an offensive force. He’s also an outstanding defensive outfielder with three Gold Gloves in as many years.
