The Cleveland Guardians’ rotation is starting to take flight.
They got off to a worrisome start to the season before a recent surge.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t always included Tanner Bibee.
Bibee has alternated great outings with not-so-good ones, but the potential is most definitely there.
With that in mind, sports analyst Bruce Drennan shared his thoughts on whether he could still be a star in this league.
In the latest edition of his show, Drennan stated that while Bibee might never become a true ace, he can still be a very good and serviceable starter:
“I don’t know if [Tanner Bibee’s] ever going to become a true ace, but he’s certainly capable of being a very strong number two or three. He might become an ace. Sometimes, pitchers, they’ll have a great rookie year, off-year, sophomore, call it what you want, look at Skubal. Skubal’s been in the Majors for seven years, you know? The sport is unpredictable, pitchers are especially unpredictable,” Drennan said.
Has Tanner Bibee's performance this season made people believe he can become a true ace? #GuardsBall

Bibee was expected to be the team’s de facto ace this season, since Shane Bieber was going to miss at least half of the campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
That hasn’t been the case, but it’s not like he hasn’t been good.
He recently vowed to get back to basics and be better in the second half of the season after regressing in almost every metric in the first half of the campaign, yet his numbers were still decent.
Barring another injury setback, Shane Bieber is going to get back on the mound sooner rather than later, and Slade Cecconi has also been a bright spot for this team’s rotation.
If Bibee can turn back the clock and return to his form from last season, he can be a very reliable second starter for this rotation during the most crucial stretch of the campaign.
