The Cleveland Guardians finally won a series this week, taking two out of three on the road against the San Francisco Giants to end a 4-series losing streak and move to a game over .500 on the year at 37-36.
It was great to see the team get back in the win column, but the offense continues to be a problem, as Cleveland has still only scored more than four runs in a game once in the entire month of June.
Bruce Drennan wondered in a recent episode of Bonus Time about how much longer outfielder Nolan Jones is going to get to prove himself, pointing out that there are multiple top prospects in the minors dying for a chance to prove themselves who could potentially be an upgrade.
How much longer does Nolan Jones get to prove himself? #GuardsBall

Jones was seen as a sneaky acquisition this offseason after the Guardians brought him in via trade from the Colorado Rockies following a down year, but he has been even worse this year with the Guardians.
Jones exploded to the tune of a .931 OPS in 2023 for the Rockies after beginning his career in Cleveland in 2022, but his production fell off a cliff in an injury-riddled 2024 season that saw him crater to a paltry .641 OPS with just three home runs in 79 games.
His numbers are nearly identical this year, as he has a .626 OPS and three home runs through 68 games this year, leaving many to share similar sentiments to Drennan and wonder how much longer he’ll be allowed to take consistent at-bats.
Jones is now 27, and all of this team’s top prospects are position players, so his days as an everyday player could be numbered if he doesn’t start hitting.
