The 46-49 Cleveland Guardians are probably considering all trade deadline scenarios at the moment.
The upcoming weeks will likely help them define their approach towards July 31.
If they can’t string together a few wins, they might end up selling a few of their assets.
If that’s the case, Emmanuel Clase, their star closer, could be available for trade.
Some folks have thrown Steven Kwan’s name out there, too, but it would make little sense to trade him.
In any case, it’s not impossible to see him flipped, too.
Analysts at ESPN Los Angeles, however, reported a wild trade scenario involving the Guardians and the reigning World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Whispers about Clase AND Kwan to the Dodgers?

The discussion took place at the Travis and D’Marco Show.
They talk about a deal that has been ‘whispered about’ with Clase and Kwan going to LA.
One of the analysts says that lefty Justin Wrobleski, righty Ben Casparius, minor league outfielder Josue De Paula, and another prospect would go to Cleveland in the proposed deal.
He is quickly interrupted by another analyst who points out that there is no way Cleveland would take that deal.
Wrobleski is a talented lefty with a 4.50 ERA and a 3.46 FIP in 40 innings with the Dodgers this year.
Casparius is a power reliever with a 4.45 ERA and a 3.27 FIP, but he also has starting experience.
De Paula is the Dodgers’ top prospect, but he is not close to the majors.
There is likely no way the Guardians accept a package for two franchise cornerstones that is not headlined by an MLB-ready position player.
That’s why one of the men in the discussion mentions Dalton Rushing, who has struggled to a 73 wRC+ in his first year in the majors, as a potential piece going to Cleveland.
He is very talented and is a hitter, which the Guardians badly need.
De Paula would have to be included, as well, with more MLB or top prospects.
However, that structure just wouldn’t align with Cleveland’s current needs.
