The Cleveland Guardians just took a much-needed series with the Athletics, winning two out of three to move back to two games above .500 and generate a bit of positive momentum heading into their off day on Monday ahead of a series with the Toronto Blue Jays.
With the team in an uncertain place and facing an 8.5-game deficit in the AL Central, it’s clear the team needs to decide which direction it plans on heading with the trade deadline around the corner.
During a recent episode of Bonus Time with Bruce Drennan, Ryan Tyler said that President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti is likely leaning towards selling at the deadline.

"I guess it's maybe a good thing that you're getting these hard teams and these hard series as you're getting towards that deadline."

Tyler thinks it’s a good thing that the schedule is about to toughen up before the All-Star break, which could make it an easier decision for the front office to sell if the team isn’t able to turn things around.
It’s a tough decision to stomach coming off an ALCS appearance, but the reality is that there are serious holes on this roster.
This offense has scored more than four runs just one time in June, and unless some of these prospects come up and change the trajectory of this team, it’s tough to see a path where this group starts pumping out more hits and runs at a consistent rate.
If the Guardians are selling, it’s likely not going to be a fun experience for this fan base, as those trade conversations could begin to include names that nobody wanted to see dealt heading into this season, namely Steven Kwan and Emmanuel Clase.
There is still time to turn things around, but this offense has to start producing to save the season.
