It took until the fourth inning for the American League All-Stars to muster anything against the National League, but after falling into an early 2-0 hole, the AL came out swinging in the fourth, scoring three runs on homers by Giancarlo Stanton and Byron Buxton.
And all three Cleveland Guardians All-Stars played a big role in the game.
It began in the bottom of the first when Andres Gimenez made a nasty flip to Tim Anderson to start a double play on a ground ball by Manny Machado.
That saved Shane McClanahan a lot of trouble early on in the game.
Then Jose Ramirez had two hits and scored a run on Stanton’s home run, and Emmanuel Clase shut the door in the ninth and secured the ninth consecutive All-Star game win for the AL.
A Guardians fan page tweeted about the standout performances of the Guardians stars.

Standout showing for the Cleveland Guardians.

Three Guardians Key All-Star Win
They may not have driven in any runs or hit any home runs, but these Guardians All-Stars certainly did their part.
Gimenez’s play was an absolute web gem, Ramirez played an important role when he picked up two hits, and Clase brought the heat in the bottom of the ninth to secure the save.
Cleveland is lucky to have these three stars on their side, as was the American League.
Though the heroics came from Stanton and Buxton, the Guardians All-Stars were instrumental in the American League’s ninth straight win last night.
Without them, the National League might have broken the AL’s streak of All-Star Game wins.
It certainly would have been much harder without their contributions.
Now, we turn our attention to the second half of the regular season, and we’ll see if these stars can key a Guardians run.
