The average fan outside of Ohio might not give Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez the recognition he deserves.
Maybe it’s because the Guardians aren’t a big market organization, but Ramirez’s name isn’t as hot as, say, Fernando Tatis Jr. or Elly De La Cruz despite being much more accomplished than both.
Players, on the other hand, are fans of J-Ram’s game.
They have him as an elite performer and one of the best all-around players in the league.
They do have him up there with the best of the best.
They showed as much in a recent player poll created by The Athletic.
The things they said about the Guardians’ third baseman will blow your mind.

They were in awe of his skills and explained how he is a really tough matchup and also very ‘clutch.’
Perhaps the most telling testimony is the one that explained how game planning against him is so hard because Ramirez is so good at making adjustments on the fly.
He has precious few weaknesses and is constantly evolving and improving, giving him an edge against the pitcher in just about every at-bat.
Ramirez is what happens when talent meets hard work and a great baseball mind.
He has been, far and away, the Guardians’ best player for at least four or five years.
His ongoing 37-on-base streak is the perfect example of his contact skills and plate discipline, and we haven’t even talked about his game-changing power from both sides of the plate, his blazing speed, and his energizing hustle.
Some fans might underrate Ramirez.
Players know exactly who he is and how good he has become, though.
