The Cleveland Guardians’ ace is, when healthy, Shane Bieber.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t any more pitchers on their roster with ace-like potential.
Those hurlers are Gavin Williams and Tanner Bibee.
If you recall, they weren’t very good or consistent at the outset of the season.
Bibee had allowed a total of 13 runs in his first four starts, for a horrible 5.85 ERA.
The worst part of that was the inconsistency, though: the 13 runs came in just two of those four games, with the other two being scoreless appearances.
Williams’ struggles were even longer: he held a 5.14 ERA in his first six starts, struggling to consistently throw strikes despite his excellent stuff.
The two talented right-handers, however, are starting to find their groove.

Bibee, essentially, has looked like the Bibee we know in his last nine turns, limiting walks, striking out his fair share of hitters, and taking care of business.
He looks in command, and he is offering some much-needed length.
Williams is still struggling with bases on balls, but he is striking out a lot of hitters and limiting damage because he isn’t as hittable as he was in the early going.

It took a while, but both pitchers have found their rhythm on the mound and are giving the Guards quality innings.
If they can keep this up for the summer, Cleveland will be in good shape.
