Time flies when you’re having fun, and even though the MLB season is a long grind, we’re already inching closer to one of its pivotal moments.
The 2025 All-Star Game is just around the corner, and voting for the July 15 event is already underway.
As pointed out by Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com, the Cleveland Guardians currently have nine players on the ballot for the All-Star team:
“Among the Guardians’ position players on the ballot for the AL All-Star team are first baseman Carlos Santana, second baseman Daniel Schneemann, third baseman Jose Ramirez, shortstop Gabriel Arias, catcher Bo Naylor, DH Kyle Manzardo and outfielders Steven Kwan, Angel Martinez and Lane Thomas,” Hoynes wrote.
Of course, some of the names mentioned here might not have a legitimate chance to make the cut.
Lane Thomas, for example, spent most of the first stretch of the season on the Injured List, and Gabriel Arias has alternated between second base and shortstop because of Brayan Rocchio’s eventual demotion.
Martinez has played center field, right field, and second base.
The Guardians had five All-Stars last season (David Fry, Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, and Emmanuel Clase), and that might be a realistic figure to aspire to this year as well.
Fan voting will determine the starters, with player vote and the commissioner’s office determining who should round out the roster with the reserves and pitching staff.
Once again, the voting will be divided into two phases, with the first one running through June 26 at 12:00 pm (ET).
Fans can vote up to five times per day at MLB.com/vote, the MLB app, the MLB Ballpark app, and all 30 club websites.
Then, once the first phase is over, the leading vote-getters at every position will be given a starting spot before phase 2 begins.
The full rosters will be announced on July 2.
