The Cleveland Guardians are playing the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday afternoon as they wrap up a three-game series.
Guardians center fielder Lane Thomas isn’t in the lineup.
He had also missed Tuesday’s contest against the same foe.
Angel Martinez is playing center field against LA in Wednesday’s finale and hitting in Thomas’ customary second hole.
As it turns out, Thomas is dealing with another physical ailment, different than the wrist issue that sent him to the injured list in late April.
“Lane Thomas is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. He’s getting looked at today,” Guardians insider Tim Stebbins posted on X.

Plantar fasciitis is a very tricky injury because there are days in which the athlete can play through it, but it can severely limit fluid movement on a bad day.
Shaking it off completely is not particularly easy, especially in the middle of the season.
As Stebbins indicates, however, Thomas is already looking for medical opinions on his injury and weighing his options.
So far, the outfielder’s walk year has been a nightmare.
He spent a month on the shelf with a bone bruise on his right wrist, from April 22 (retroactive to April 19) until May 22.
He has been unproductive when he has been able to suit up, as he is hitting a modest .119 with a .305 OPS.
The Guardians should offer an update on Thomas’ situation within the next few hours.
There is a very real chance he hits the injured list again.
Thomas will be free to sign a contract with a team of his liking after the World Series.
