The Cleveland Guardians had high hopes for Travis Bazzana this season.
He’s currently the No. 12 prospect in all of baseball, and he was projected to be called up at one point in the season.
Now, he’s dealing with a rare injury, and he might be out for a while.
According to a report by Guardians Prospective on X, the former No. 1 pick is currently expected to be placed on the Injured List (IL).
Cleveland #Guardians 22-year-old second base top prospect Travis Bazzana is unlikely to avoid a trip to the injured list.
Bazzana who returned back to Ohio with the rest of the Akron squad from Maryland this evening is set to meet with team doctors in Cleveland Monday.

The 22-year-old returned to Ohio with the rest of the Akron team after their game in Maryland and will meet with team doctors later on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
The Guardians have only claimed that he’s dealing with some ‘side discomfort,’ but they have yet to offer an official diagnosis or any sort of update regarding his condition.
With Andres Gimenez out of the picture, most people expect Bazzana to become the team’s starting second baseman at some point in the campaign.
So far, he’s hit .252 with 17 RBIs, a .362 OBP, a .795 OPS, and four home runs.
He hit .238 in the minors in 27 games last season.
Bazana projects to be a dominant hitter, as his combination of power, contact, and plate discipline isn’t so common for a player his age.
Then again, as much as the team needs him, they will certainly err on the side of caution with him and won’t rush him back into action.
Hopefully, this won’t be anything serious, and the team is just being overly-cautious with their most prominent young player.
