The Cleveland Guardians were rather quiet during the offseason.
They didn’t make any big moves to bolster their outfield because they knew help was on the way.
They had high hopes for second-ranked prospect OF Chase DeLauter, and it should’ve been just a matter of time before he was called up.
Unfortunately, he sustained a sports hernia injury during training camp, so they had to put the brakes on this plan.
Now, a report by Guardian Prospective reveals that he’s right on track to getting back on the field.
Cleveland #Guardians 23-year-old top prospect Chase DeLauter has been added to the Arizona Complex League roster for a rehab assignment.
DeLauter will slowly build up to plaing a full 9 inning game before heading out on an affiliate assignment to Triple-A Columbus.

He was just added to the Arizona Complex League roster for a rehab assignment.
The report also states that the 23-year-old will slowly ramp things up until he’s finally cleared to play a full nine-inning game.
Once he clears that stage, he will be sent to Triple-A to begin an official rehab assignment.
DeLauter has the potential to be an absolute stud at the next level.
He slashed 304/.407/.739 with a 1.146 OPS last season in the Triple-A.
Even so, injuries will continue to be a major concern with him.
Despite his youth, he’s already struggled with multiple ailments, such as a toe and foot injury last season, and he also underwent left foot surgery while he was still in college.
The Guardians will clearly take things slowly and carefully with him, but if he manages to stay healthy, it shouldn’t be long before he becomes one of the biggest sensations in the great state of Ohio, and maybe even all over baseball.
