The Cleveland Guardians are in Canada, where they will play the second of a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays starting at 3:07 pm ET.
The Guardians lost on Friday night, and not just the game: they also witnessed how their best player, Jose Ramirez, had to leave the game with an ankle injury.
The ailment is considered mild, though, and Ramirez was able to put weight on the ankle and walk off on his own power.
However, it did knock him out of Saturday’s game.
At the very least, he won’t participate from the start, as he isn’t in the lineup.
“José Ramírez not in the lineup for @CleGuardians against Toronto this afternoon, one day after suffering mild right ankle sprain,” Guardians reporter Joe Noga posted on X.

Infielder Will Wilson is playing third base in Ramirez’s place, as the latter tries to recover from the injury.
There is no word on how much time J-Ram will miss or if he will be available off the bench, but if the injury is being described as ‘mild’, it shouldn’t require an IL stint, at least not in theory.
Fans will have no choice but to wait a bit to see how the situation unfolds.
With five home runs and eight stolen bases, Ramirez is once again on an interesting power-speed pace.
He is still not scratching the surface of his ceiling though, as his OPS is still .774, way below his career mark of .855.
If he is healthy, he should eventually get hot and provide his usual offensive output.
For the Guardians’ sake, let’s hope that’s the case.
