Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez is the talk of MLB right now, given what he achieved on Thursday.
In his team’s win against the Minnesota Twins, J-Ram became the first Guardians player to accumulate at least 250 home runs and 250 stolen bases.
Even reaching one of those totals would be cause for celebration for the vast majority of players, but Ramirez is better than your average baseball player.
In fact, some might say he is a Hall of Famer already.
MLB insider Jon Morosi is one of these people.
“He’s a Hall of Famer for me, period.” ✅- @jonmorosi on @CleGuardians superstar José Ramírez after surpassing the career 250+ HR/250+ SB mark,” MLB Network posted on X with a clip of Morosi’s thoughts on the matter.

For years, even decades, the world of baseball has been fascinated with the combination of power and speed in the same player.
In recent seasons, we see more of these guys who offer impressive power-speed combos: Shohei Ohtani, Elly De La Cruz, Fernando Tatis Jr., Ronald Acuña Jr., Bobby Witt Jr., and every junior you can find.
All kidding aside, no one offers a better blend of consistency, longevity, and sustained excellence than Ramirez.
Yes, the 250 home runs (260, to be precise) and 250 thefts are a cool achievement and will strengthen his HOF case in the eyes of many, but there is much more to it than just two milestones.
He is a six-time All-Star and a five-time Silver Slugger Award winner.
Many people think he was robbed in the 2020 AL MVP race and there is a strong argument to support that claim.
We are talking about an unlikely success story, signing as an amateur free agent for just $50,000 and not being among the top prospects before making it to the majors.
He overcame a lot to be where he is and is now considered a bonafide star who still has a lot to give to the game and the Guardians.
If he keeps playing at a high level, Cooperstown awaits.
