The Cleveland Guardians have been accused of not having enough offensive firepower to make another deep postseason run in 2025.
Some people say their offense is Jose Ramirez, Steven Kwan, and a bunch of talented, but unproven players.
The analysis is obviously much deeper, but the premise isn’t entirely off base: Ramirez is, after all, the best player on the team by a comfortable margin.
That’s exactly why the alarms went off after it was revealed that Ramirez had to leave the game in the sixth inning of Saturday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
“Gabriel Arias has taken over for José Ramírez at third base in the sixth inning,” team insider Tim Stebbins posted on X.

It is, according to Guardians reporter Zack Meisel, a right wrist sprain.

Guardians beat reporter Paul Hoynes explained the injury actually occurred earlier in the game.
“Ramirez appeared to jar himself on a stolen base attempt that ended the third inning. In his at-bat in the sixth inning, he jogged slowly to first on a ground out to second,” Hoynes said.

There is no information available at this point about the severity of the injury or how long Ramirez will be out, but there should be an update soon.
If there is a player on the Guardians’ roster they can’t afford to lose for an extended period, it’s definitely Ramirez.
Few other players are capable of hitting 39 while stealing 41 bases at 32 years old, as he did last year.
He also posted a .872 OPS, scored 114 runs, and drove in 118.
Guardians fans should be glued to their phones for the rest of the day to make sure their star player hasn’t suffered a severe injury.
