Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez had an amazing season last year.
Statistically, it was one of the finest of his brilliant career.
He scored 114 runs, drove in 118, and posted a .872 OPS.
Perhaps his most relevant achievements, however, were his 39 home runs and his 41 stolen bases.
He didn’t quite get the 40-40 season, but his power-speed showing was an achievement nonetheless.
This year, he is going for entry to that prestigious club 40-40 club.
“That’s my motivation this year. I know it’s not easy to achieve, but I’m going to keep working hard.” @CleGuardians superstar José Ramírez talks about chasing 40/40 again this season and his commitment to greatness,” MLB Network wrote on X.

During his interview with MLB Network’s Mark DeRosa, Ramirez revealed that he has been working hard to be the best at his craft from a very young age.
Even his own manager, Stephen Vogt, praises him for his work ethic.
He may not be 25 (he is, in fact, 32 already) but that doesn’t mean Ramirez isn’t capable of stealing 41 bases again.
He is speedy, athletic, and smart: he doesn’t get caught a lot and knows how to pick his spots.
As for the homers, he has reached at least 36 on three separate occasions, hitting 39 twice.
It will take a bit more to break that ceiling and reach new heights.
Don’t doubt Ramirez, though: he heard many times that he didn’t have the build or the talent to be a superstar, and yet here he is, on his way to the Hall of Fame, still proving doubters wrong.
He is a one-of-a-kind player and Cleveland is lucky to have him.
