The farm system is vital for the long-term health of MLB organizations.
The teams who can find solutions from within will be in a better position to spend in free agency or extend their own talent, because they can plug in contributors ok cheap deals.
The Cleveland Guardians are consistently one of the best teams in baseball in spotting and developing talent.
Their farm system is consistently good as a result.
In a recent exercises by Bleacher Report, they ranked the Guards’ system sixth among all 30 clubs.
The Guardians were recently ranked as having the No. 6 best farm system in MLB.

“The emergence of Jaison Chourio and Angel Genao, along with the selection of Travis Bazzana at No. 1 overall in the 2024 draft, has given the Guardians an influx of impact offensive prospect talent. The strength of the organization is developing pitching talent, so don’t put much stock in the fact that there is only one pitcher currently ranked among their top 10 prospects, as they have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough,” they wrote.
They ranked the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox, the Detroit Tigers, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Seattle Mariners ahead of Cleveland.
Chourio, Genao, Bazzana, Ralphy Velazquez and Chase DeLauter were given ‘Tier 1’ status in their prospects classification.
Juan Brito and C.J. Kayfus are ‘Tier 2’ prospects, and Cooper Ingle, Welbyn Francisca and Brandon Doughty complete the top ten and were given ‘Tier 3’ tags.
The Guardians have a deep system in position players, with several stats possibly surfacing from the aforementioned names.
And since they do such a good job developing pitchers, they should be alright on that front, too.
