The Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) announced the Cy Young award winners in each league on Wednesday night.
Unsurprisingly, Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal took home the prestigious recognition in the National and American League, respectively.
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clases was one of the finalists in the junior circuit.
He finished third behind Skubal and Seth Lugo of the Kansas City Royals.
“One of the greatest seasons by a reliever of all time, and the highest finish by a reliever in Cy Young voting since 2008. Congrats on your third-place finish, La Kabra,” the Guardians posted on X.

Clase became the Guardians all-time leader in saves, adding 47 to his line this season.
He also posted a ridiculously low 0.61 ERA, conceding just five earned runs in the regular season.
Perhaps in another year, he would have gotten closer to winning the Cy, but it’s hard to compete against a Triple Crown.
Skubal is a deserving winner.
Guardians rookie reliever Cade Smith snuck into the top ten in the Cy Young race, finishing ninth after a brilliant campaign.
Skubal, not surprisingly, got all 30 first place votes.
Lugo got 93 points to Clase’s 66.
The Guardians ninth-inning stopper got nine second place votes.
Smith, who has a sub-2.00s ERA and more than 100 strikeouts as a rookie, earned a fifth place vote, tied for ninth place with Yusei Kikuchi.
It’s a nice way to recognize his incredible contributions after making the team out of camp.
The Guardians got some really solid performances from their pitching staff, and it’s nice to see the rest of the league recognizing their efforts.
