Cleveland Guardians Manager Stephen Vogt recently became the fastest player-turned-manager to win MLB’s Manager of the Year award.
He took home the AL MOY honors following Cleveland’s run to the ALCS in October.
Vogt last played in an MLB game just two years ago and is now the AL Manager of the Year in his first year leading the Guardians, a feat which has particularly impressed one former Chicago White Sox manager.
Former White Sox manager Pedro Grifol spoke on SiriusXM’s MLB Radio Wednesday morning and praised Vogt, noting, “You could tell right away in Spring Training, he was made for this…One of the biggest indicators for me is how the veterans are reacting, how they’re playing, how they lead, and right away you see guys like (Jose) Ramirez and some of these guys that have been there a while responding to him and his staff. They gave him everything they had every single day, and that’s just a credit to his leadership and his style.”

Grifol said Vogt was like this as a player and always showed signs of being a successful manager one day.
The vibes in the clubhouse seemed fantastic all season under Vogt, which is impressive considering he replaced Terry Francona, who won two World Series with the Boston Red Sox and Manager of the Year three times with the Guardians.
Vogt’s managerial career is off to a tremendous start, and he surely hopes, like the fans, that this team will spend some money this offseason to bolster its roster and build on a successful 2024 season.
