The Cleveland Guardians have promoted Grant Fink from minor league hitting coordinator to hitting coach at the MLB level, as the team announced on Wednesday.
He has the opportunity of a lifetime right in front of him.
You can say Fink has been a Guardian for life when it comes to MLB organizations.
He has completed, to this point, quite a rise.
Fink was drafted by the Guardians in the 23rd round of the 2013 MLB Draft.
He was never much of a hitter, though, as his .231 batting average, .328 OBP and .699 OPS in the minor leagues show.
He was eventually released by the Guards in 2016, but started his coaching career in 2017.
“Quite the rise for Grant Fink. Before becoming the minor league hitting coordinator the last 3 years, he was the hitting coach at Lake County. He’s been coaching in the system since 2017. 23rd round pick of the org back in 2013,” Guardians reporter @Justin_L posted on X.

It has been an impressive rise indeed.
It all happened relatively quickly: he went from draft pick to unemployed minor league player to hitting coach at High-A to minor league hitting coordinator to MLB hitting coach in a span of 11 years.
He will try to put his vast knowledge of the science behind hitting on display, trying to guide some of the best hitters in the world to be better and try to reach their potential.
He couldn’t do it himself, but has prepared for this moment through the years.
The challenge starts now, and Fink is up for it.
