The Cleveland Guardians fell one series short of a World Series appearance as they lost to the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
Although the Guardians fell short in 2024, they showed the league that they are capable of making a long run in the postseason.
One Guardians player who stood out during the postseason was catcher David Fry, who was making his first career playoff appearance.
The Guardians received some tough news regarding Fry and an injury he has been dealing with towards the end of the 2024 season.
According to Cleveland Guardians on ‘X,’ David Fry will need surgery to repair an elbow injury requiring six to 12 months for recovery.

Fry made a name for himself during game three of the American League Championship Series against the Yankees where he hit a walk-off two-run home run for the Guardians’ only win of the series.
The injury Fry has appears to put his availability in jeopardy during the 2025 season.
It is expected to take between six and eight months for Fry to return to the designated hitter role and 12 months for Fry to return to playing the field.
Fry’s postseason numbers included eight hits in 28 at-bats with two home runs, eight runs batted in, and a .869 on-base plus slugging percentage.
The Guardians will hope for a speedy recovery for Fry and that he returns to the lineup as soon as possible.
