The Cleveland Guardians are one of the best defensive teams in MLB.
They have impact defenders all over the diamond, and multiple Gold Glove winners.
As the awards season gets underway in MLB, players, coaches, managers, media members and fans recognize the Guardians defensive prowess.
On Thursday, a couple of members of the team were named winners of a prestigious fielding award.
“Probably not the last awards our squad will be winning this year. Congrats to Andrés Giménez and Tanner Bibee on winning 2024 Fielding Bible Awards,” the team announced via X.

Baseball Info Solutions has been handing the Fielding Bible awards since 2006.
They are sabermetric-oriented, which means that the winners are awarded for defensive excellent according to advanced stats and metrics.
These awards are given to the best defensive players in MLB at each position.
Bibee accumulated six Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) on the year, enough to get him the nod among hurlers.
Giménez is a known defensive wizard, with two Gold Gloves and a Platinum Glove last year.
He gets the Fielding Bible award this season after another dominant performance with a glove on his hand.
The second baseman accumulated an American League-leading 20 DRS and 19 OAA, tied with Marcus Semien in the latter and behind only Bryce Turang’s 22 in the former.
He might not have an elite bat, but he does have an impact glove that can change the course of a game.
It was a productive day for the Guardians in other fronts, as The Sporting News named Stephen Vogt the AL Manager of the Year and Jose Ramirez and Emmanuel Clase as part of their All-Star team.
