On Thursday, the Cleveland Guardians beat the New York Yankees in game three of the American League Championship Series.
The Guardians were down by two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jhonkensy Noel came up with a huge two-run home run to tie the game and force extra innings.
Pedro Avila came into the game to pitch the top of the tenth inning and held the Yankees scoreless.
According to MLB analyst Jon Morosi on ‘X,’ Avila’s performance in the ALCS should not go unnoticed.
Pedro Ávila’s work in the ALCS should not be overlooked.
13 batters faced; 0 hits allowed.
He’s the only @CleGuardians pitcher to appear in all 3 games of the series.
He’s already faced Judge and Stanton twice each. @MLBNetwork

Avila was not on the American League Division Series roster but was a late add to the ALCS roster in place of switch-hitting utility player Angel Martinez.
The Guardians appear to have wanted another arm in the bullpen for the possible long seven-game series against the Yankees.
This move has worked so far for the Guardians, as Avila has appeared in all three games of the ALCS, pitching four shutout innings, allowing zero hits, two walks, and striking out three.
Avila pitched a scoreless top of the tenth inning in game three which earned him the win when David Fry ended the game in the bottom of the tenth with a two-run walk-off home run.
Game four will take place on Friday where Guardians starter Gavin Williams will take on Yankees starter Luis Gil.
It is unsure if Avila will be available to pitch in a fourth straight ALCS game, but if he does come into the game, the Guardians probably like their chances with his performance thus far.
