Cleveland Guardians catcher Austin Hedges is no stranger to the microphone.
He often gives interviews and talks about the state of the team, his teammates, and their overall chances, among many other subjects.
This week, as the team prepares to take on the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series, he discussed team star Jose Ramirez and how he has a golden opportunity in front of him.
Ramirez, Hedges says, is already a hero in Cleveland.
For some reason, however, the league hasn’t given him the recognition he probably deserves.
We are talking about one of the best players in the league, quite likely a top-ten performer, but he doesn’t get the press that other similarly talented players do.
Hedges didn’t quite say it, but he implied that he thinks Ramirez can change that with a huge postseason that delivers the Guardians their first World Series title since 1948.
“José Ramírez, on October’s big stage? Here’s Austin Hedges’ take: “These are the moments that make you immortalized. He’s already immortalized in Cleveland, but I am just dying for him to get immortalized (by) the world,” Guardians insider Zack Meisel posted on X.

The catcher is right: Ramirez is already immortalized in Cleveland.
To Guardians fans and people who follow sports in Cleveland, he is a top player and a future franchise Hall of Famer.
He could make himself visible to the eyes of the world with a dominant performance in October.
Maybe if the average fan sees him carrying the Guardians to the title, they will finally mention his name among the elite of the elite.
Hedges would love to see that, as would all Guardians supporters.
