Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez stole a base in his team’s 6-0 loss against the New York Yankees on Thursday afternoon.
That in itself doesn’t represent or mean much more than a speedy player stealing a base, at least on the surface.
However, context is everything, and that stolen base gave J-Ram an exclusive place in MLB history.
With that theft, he reached 30 on the season.
He already has 32 home runs, so he officially achieved his second 30-30 campaign after doing so in 2018.
That year, he went yard a career-high 39 times and stole 34 bags, also a career-best.
With multiple 30-30 seasons in his list of accomplishments, Ramirez is now part of a select group of hitters in the history of the game.
“José Ramírez becomes the 15th player to record multiple 30 HR/30 SB seasons!” MLB tweeted with a cool graph to honor the Guardians star.

Major League Baseball has been around for much longer than a century.
Thousands of players have participated in an MLB game.
Only 15 of them have accumulated at least two seasons with 30+ home runs and 30+ stolen bases.
Ramirez is one of them.
The infielder is having one of the finest seasons of his MLB tenure, with a .273/.332/.530 line, 32 round-trippers, 27 doubles, 93 runs scored, 101 RBI, and a .862 OPS.
He has been the best and most consistent player for a really good Guardians team, and would get many MVP votes if it wasn’t for Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Bobby Witt Jr.
Without J-Ram, the Guards probably wouldn’t be at the top of the AL Central.
He is an integral part of the organization.
