The Cleveland Guardians won an impressive game on Tuesday against the New York Yankees, but life, and the season, goes on.
Truth be told, the Guards have been somewhat streaky and inconsistent in recent games and weeks.
They are, for example, 8-10 in August and 15-15 in the second half.
In case you were wondering, they had a 58-37 record before the All-Star break.
The most important takeaway from their current stretch of inconsistent play is that they need to keep working and improving because the season and the calendar rewards those who peak at the right time.
Guardians Of The Land, a specialized account covering and following the team, posted some interesting thoughts about the matter and compared Cleveland’s current situation to the reigning World Series champs.
“162 games is a grind. Last season the Rangers had an 8-game8-game losing streak in August, lost 16 of 20 games at one point between August-September, blew a large division lead to the Astros…and then won the World Series. It’s all about getting in and getting hot at the right time,” they tweeted.

You can compare these Guardians with many of those things that happened to the Rangers last year.
The Guards have seen how the Minnesota Twins have come closer in the AL Central race, and are in danger of blowing their once-comfortable lead.
They already lost seven consecutive games this month, too, and have played .500 ball in the second half without including Wednesday’s game.
Yet the Rangers peaked at the right time and won it all last year.
Despite some flaws on their roster, these Guardians can go on a similar run.
Manager Stephen Vogt has been met with questions about his team being in a slump or a tough stretch, and he always projects confidence and patience.
He trusts his players’ abilities.
With their excellent bullpen and quality hitters, the Guardians can make it happen.
They are capable of imitating the Rangers’ 2023 campaign in many aspects.
Will the rotation hold up?
That’s the million-dollar question.
