The Cleveland Guardians won a lot of games in the first half of the 2024 MLB season; 58 to be exact.
After a well-deserved break, they will return to play on Friday night against the San Diego Padres at Progressive Field.
Speaking of Progressive Field, it’s a place where Cleveland has felt very comfortable this season.
Playing at home, with the support of the crowd, and enjoying some friendly and familiar sightings have benefited the organization.
As Bally Sports Cleveland tweeted, the team will get a lot of home games in the second half: in other words, they are primed for a strong finish if first-half patterns hold steady.
“The @CleGuardians finished the first half with the best home record in baseball (30-11), and they’ll play 40 of their final 67 games at Progressive Field. @AlPawlowski and @JLEWFifty discussed the club’s clear home-field advantage on this week’s Guardians Report,” they tweeted.

A 30-11 home record is definitely nothing to sneeze at.
In fact, no team in baseball had a better record in its home stadium.
The Guards are a solid road team (otherwise, they wouldn’t be in first place in the AL Central), but they are almost unbeatable at home.
Well, of the 67 games they still have to play this year, 40 will be in Cleveland.
That’s the perfect scenario for Stephen Vogt and his quality roster; and the idea is to keep accumulating wins and securing a place in the postseason.
The higher Cleveland finishes in the American League standings, the longer they would hold homefield advantage in the (hypothetical) playoffs.
