The Cleveland Guardians still have the best record in the American League at 57-35, but the team has been slipping over the last few weeks and has lost nine of its last 15 games, shrinking its lead in the AL Central to 4.5 games as the Minnesota Twins have gotten hot.
With the All-Star break just around the corner, one analyst has a message for fans letting them know it’s not the end of the world.
Analyst and former Cleveland pitcher Jensen Lewis said on the team’s postgame show that “every team goes through a lull” and added “it was going to be a lot to ask to keep up a 5-run per game pace” in reference to the recent offensive output, or lack thereof.

Cleveland has scored more than five runs just once in the last seven games and multiple guys throughout the lineup have cooled off considerably.
David Fry just made his first All-Star team, but he has come crashing back to earth after starting the season on fire, hitting just .246 in June with a .669 OPS and following that up with a .125 batting average so far in July.
Andres Gimenez had a .456 OPS in June and Jose Ramirez has just a .549 OPS in July with no home runs and just one RBI.
Ramirez’s skid is perhaps the most damning, as he is the anchor of this lineup and was the main reason this team was scoring in bunches earlier in the year.
As Lewis said, there’s no reason to be too concerned, as this is just how baseball goes.
