The Cleveland Guardians lost 4-2 to the San Francisco Giants last night in the first game of a 3-game set, and the team has now hit a slight skid over the last week or so by losing six of the last nine games.
Manager Stephen Vogt opened up after the game about the loss and gave the Giants plenty of credit in the process.
Vogt said to the media during his postgame press conference, “Credit to their pitchers. They made pitches when they needed to. We put pressure on them all night.”

Vogt pointed out that even though they were able to put pressure on the Giants all night, the Guardians couldn’t come through when they needed to.
Cleveland managed 11 hits and five walks but the team was a ghastly 0-11 with runners in scoring position.
Tanner Bibee had a rough start and gave up four runs in 4.2 innings of work while the bullpen was scintillating by following up Bibee’s exit with 4.1 innings of hitless ball with eight strikeouts.
The Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning highlighted by Michael Conforto’s two-run double and never looked back.
The Guardians still have a 6-game lead in the AL Central as the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals have also been treading water lately, but this offense needs to start cooking again.
Cleveland’s lineup has been inconsistent of late and has struggled to get the big hit time and time again during this recent skid.
The Guardians will look to even up the series on Saturday with Logan Allen on the hill.
