Reaching 10 years of MLB service time is a major achievement for players.
For many of them, it’s one of their goals during their careers because it guarantees a pension for the rest of their lives, which means financial stability in their golden years.
The most recent player to reach that goal was Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez, who did it this week.
Ramirez’s career started off rather discreetly: from 2013 to 2015, he was unable to establish himself as an above-average major leaguer.
He broke out in 2016, though, and since then, he hasn’t looked back.
Ramirez has overcome many obstacles to get where he is, and you can say he has been pretty successful: he has made a lot of money doing what he loves, he has taken care of his family, and he is one of the very best players in the league.
As it turns out, the numbers he has achieved during those 10 years with the Guardians are magnificent and put him right up there with some franchise legends in the historical rankings.

As Bally Sports Cleveland shows in the graph, Ramirez ranks at or near the top of almost every relevant offensive category.
He is third in home runs with 239, tied for third in extra-base hits with 620, sixth in doubles (342) and stolen bases (218), and eighth in RBI with 822.
The Guards still have him for several more years, and he is still theoretically in his prime at 31 years old.
He has all the look of a Guardian for life, and has plenty of time to keep climbing up the franchise rankings in those categories.
