The Cleveland Guardians have quite the collection of young position player prospects.
We have seen some of them this year with the Guards: Kyle Manzardo, Johnathan Rodriguez, Jhonkensy Noel, Daniel Schneemann, Angel Martinez, and others.
Of them, only Schneemann and Noel are with the big league club at the moment.
The rest of them, including Manzardo, got a look with the Guardians and were sent down eventually.
The lefty-hitting Manzardo might have struggled in MLB, but he is making sure to prove to the team that all he needs to gain his footing is an extended opportunity and everyday at-bats.
He sure is thriving in Columbus by getting them.
“#Guardians 23yr old (1B) prospect Kyle Manzardo blasts a 385 foot solo HR in the 5th inning for Columbus to tie the game at six runs apiece with Omaha! For Manzardo it’s his 4th HR in his last 5 games. He now has 13 HR’s on the year with Clippers in just 40 games,” Guardians Prospective tweeted.

Manzardo is actually getting hot at the moment, with an impressive power run that will certainly put himself on the Guards’ map again.
There is no room for him at the moment, but injuries and slumps (or even trades) happen, so a spot could potentially open up within the next few weeks.
All Manzardo has to do is keep hitting, and so far, he is doing that and then some.
For the season as a whole, he is slashing a cool .297/.394/.641 with 13 home runs and a 155 wRC+ in Columbus.
He did post a disappointing .207/.241/.329 (60 wRC+) line in 87 plate appearances in MLB sandwiched in between his two stints in Triple-A, but the organization is confident he will eventually force his way back up and thrive.
