The Cleveland Guardians had won three of their last four games – including the series opener against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday – before Wednesday’s rainout.
On Thursday, however, they couldn’t keep up the momentum and lost 4-3 to the Royals, despite a big day from Jose Ramirez at the dish.
The Guards’ lead in the AL Central is back to four games after the result.
The series between the two teams is now tied, but they will be playing the postponed game in August, on the 26th, as part of a doubleheader.
The Guardians accumulated nine hits and four walks, but they were just able to score three runs despite the traffic on the basepaths.
As Guardians manager Stephen Vogt put it, the big hit just wasn’t there.
“Tipping the cap to the Royals for their execution, Stephen Vogt says the Guardians just couldn’t quite get the big hit they’ve been accustomed to,” Bally Sports Cleveland tweeted, with words from the skipper.

Tanner Bibee gave the Guardians a decent start, with five innings of three runs (two earned) allowed.
He walked one and struck out seven.
The offense, however, couldn’t quite get things going despite accumulating nine hits in just 3.2 frames against Royals starter Brady Singer.
Kansas City’s bullpen saved the day for them as they covered 5.1 frames without allowing a single hit: just three walks.
These two squads are likely to keep competing for the top spot in the AL Central for the entire season.
They both have their flaws, but are extremely competitive and talented.
