The Cleveland Guardians have done a great job keeping the starting rotation together since Shane Bieber went out with Tommy John surgery, as the team currently sports a 3.47 team ERA, good for 7th in the league.
That rotation could be getting another boost very soon, as a new update has been released regarding Gavin Williams’ rehab stint.
Williams will be making his second rehab start today for the Columbus Clippers at the Indianapolis Indians as he continues to ramp up for a return to the big leagues (via Guardians Prospective).

Williams hasn’t pitched yet this season as he has been out with elbow issues for months, but he made his first rehab start last week and worked just one inning to knock some rust off, surrendering one solo home run and striking out two.
He topped out at 97.5 mph on his fastball, which is the most encouraging sign.
It’s unclear how long he’ll go in his second start, but one could expect two or three innings, and the important thing will be if he can improve his command.
His velocity was there in his first start but he looked erratic, which is to be expected given all the time off.
Command was his main issue as a rookie in 2023 with 37 walks in 82 innings of work, though he still had a 3.29 ERA.
When Williams returns and reclaims his spot in the rotation, the Guardians will have to make a decision on who he will replace.
Carlos Carrasco has a 5.66 ERA in ten starts and Logan Allen has been even worse at 5.83 in 12 starts.
