There might not be a hotter team in baseball than the Cleveland Guardians.
They are 36-17, they have won nine straight, and have swept each of their last three series.
This weekend, they finished a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels with a 5-4 victory, and after the game, they had something to say on social media.
“We’ve won our last nine and have now gained a game in the Central standings,” the team tweeted, jokingly, but also very seriously.

The Guardians currently hold a 2.5-game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the Central.
They have won nine in a row, yet the difference they managed to build in the standings remains marginal.
Why?
Because the Royals are also on fire.
Kansas City has won eight of their last ten games, which is why Cleveland has been unable to build anything beyond a 2.5-game lead in the division even after their recent streak.
Life in the AL Central used to be relatively easy in recent seasons, but not anymore.
The Royals invested a lot of resources this season to be more competitive and are 34-20, which is amazing and represents one of the most shocking improvements around the league.
Then you have the Minnesota Twins at 28-24 and the Detroit Tigers, winners of their last three, at 26-27.
Those two squads are also highly competitive and with room to improve.
The Chicago White Sox (15-39) are likely the worst team in baseball, but the other four will all vie for a playoff spot until late in the season.
