The Cleveland Guardians have gotten off to a hot start to the season and are currently tied with the New York Yankees for the fewest losses in the American League with just 17.
Despite the 34-17 start, the Guardians are only 1.5 games up in the AL Central due to the Kansas City Royals surprising everyone by being one of the league’s best teams, but one analyst has noted that the Guardians have a golden opportunity to create a little breathing room over the next few weeks.
Former Guardians pitcher and current analyst Jensen Lewis noted on Twitter that the Guardians’ next seven opponents present a favorable schedule that the team should be able to take advantage of, as the team is currently in the midst of a series against the last-place Los Angeles Angels before heading to Colorado for three against the last-place Rockies.
.@CleGuardians next 7 opponents (as of today):
3 @ LAA = LAST place in AL West
3 @ COL = LAST in NL West
3 v WSH = 3rd in NL East
3 v KC = 2nd in AL Central
3 @ MIA = LAST in NL East
2 @ CIN = LAST in NL Central
3 @ TOR = LAST in AL EastGotta take advantage. Big time. pic.twitter.com/kxwrf4H2by

After Colorado, the Guardians have three games at home against the Washington Nationals before opening a crucial three-game set against the Royals.
After the battle with KC, Cleveland has three more series against last-place teams as they hit the road to face the Miami Marlins, Cincinnati Reds, and Toronto Blue Jays.
This is about as easy as it gets, as the Guardians have plenty of fodder to get ready for that Royals series where they can hopefully open up some space over their division rivals.
Facing five of the possible six last-place teams over the course of a month is a gift from the scheduling gods, and the Guardians have to take advantage of it.
