In the bottom of the ninth inning of Sunday’s game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Minnesota Twins, a few unexpected things took place.
Emmanuel Clase had allowed a run to blow a save chance, even if it was unearned.
That happened at the top of the inning.
When the bottom of the ninth rolled around, the Guardians were facing a usually dominant right-hander in Jhoan Duran.
That’s why it was so shocking to witness how things unfolded in that frame: he walked two Guardians and then allowed a two-out, three-run walk-off home run to Will Brennan.
That home run bailed out Clase and announced that the Guardians not only had swept the Twins, but had reached 30 wins on the season against just 17 losses.
Brennan might not be having a brilliant season, but he will showcase his power from time to time.
Boy, did he pick the right spot to do that on Sunday.
It was his fifth home run of the year, and he reached 18 RBI with the impressive blast.
MLB Network posted a video of the special moment using the Ballpark Cam, an amazing feature that gives fans a chance to enjoy the action from a center field view.

It’s really an experience for the senses: you could hear the home crowd at Progressive Field roar after Brennan’s home run, and watch the fans go crazy and the players on the bases and inside the dugout rushing to home plate to greet the hero of the day.
The camera catches all the action from the moment Brennan put on his swing, then zooms in and captures the celebration at home plate and the crowd enjoying one of the highlights of the Guardians’ season.
This Cleveland team is not only talented, but also resilient.
It really does have a “no quit” mantra, probably thanks to the renewed leadership by manager Stephen Vogt.
It has been a great season in Cleveland, but there is still a long way to go.
