Travis Bazzana and Brayan Rocchio have both blossomed in 2026 for the Cleveland Guardians and are making a strong case to hold down the middle infield in Cleveland for years to come. Bazzana’s rise to stardom is to be expected, but few saw Rocchio’s big 2026 coming and he is now putting real pressure on the organization to reconsider its long-term plans.
As good as Bazzana and Rocchio have been there are other middle infielders still fighting for spots, namely Gabriel Arias. He has been out of action due to a hamstring strain since April 6th and many thought that might be it for him as a starter, but he has proven that he is worth another look soon with his recent performance in his rehab stint.
Guardians Prospective shared a clip of Arias’ recent home run from Thursday’s game, which was his third game in a row with a homer. The impressive shot traveled 426 feet and registered 108.1 miles per hour off the bat.
“3rd straight game! Cleveland #Guardians (SS) Gabriel Arias has homered in three straight games on his rehab stint with Columbus hitting a 426 foot solo bomb in the 3rd inning at Indianapolis 108.1 mph off the bat,” Guardians Prospective wrote.

Arias now has three homers in just five rehab games and isn’t showing any signs of rust. It’s unclear what’s next for him once he is deemed ready because of how crowded the middle infield is in Cleveland with Bazzana and Rocchio, but this team needs more offense wherever it can find it and if Arias is going to hit like this, he’ll earn some at bats.
Arias is still just 26 and could easily still factor into this team’s future, which many analysts believe is among the best in MLB. His path might not be clear now that Bazzana has arrived, but all he has to do is focus on continuing to rake like this and it will all take care of itself.
The fans haven’t seen this kind of power surge from Arias during his stint in Cleveland. Hopefully his time off unlocked something and this becomes more of a trend.
