The Cleveland Guardians were supposed to play the New York Yankees on Friday to kick off a three-game series at Progressive Field.
They have been, so far, the two best squads in the American League.
Friday’s contest, however, won’t be happening: it was postponed due to rain and wind.
It’s a bummer, as fans of both teams were eager for their respective rosters to clash and test themselves against elite competition.
Instead, the Yanks and Guards will play a pivotal doubleheader on Saturday.
First pitch for the initial game is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. ET.
Cleveland sports reporter Tom Withers revealed the two starting pitchers the Guardians will be sending to the mound for the doubleheader.
“Guardians will pitch Carrasco and McKenzie tomorrow, order not yet known,” he tweeted.

Carlos Carrasco has been a pleasant surprise so far, making the team while having very long odds.
He is sporting a 4.50 ERA in eight frames and has been a respectable depth pitcher for Cleveland.
Triston McKenzie struggled in his first outing of the season, but tossed 5.2 scoreless frames in his last start against the Chicago White Sox.
He now has a 4.00 ERA in nine innings to open the 2024 campaign.
As for the Yankees, they were going to send right-hander Clarke Schmidt to the hill on Friday, so the logical move would be to push him back one day and have him start one of the Saturday games against Cleveland.
It’s Luis Gil’s day, so it’s likely he gets the other one.
One of the most anticipated matchups of the season will have to wait a day, but it’s sure to bring excitement to both fanbases with thrilling games on Saturday and Sunday.
