Travis Bazzana getting called up to make his major league debut for the Cleveland Guardians isn’t the only notable recent promotion within the organization. Three of their top minor league prospects have been given a boost within the farm system.
Shortstop Angel Genoa, who is Cleveland’s No. 3 prospect according to MLB.com, was promoted to Triple-A Columbus from Double-A Akron. Outfielder Jaison Chourio, who is ranked at No. 11, and pitcher Justin Campbell were moved up to Double-A from Single-A+ Lake County.
Of those, analyst Cade Cracas said he sees big potential in the young Guardians outfielder, if he can maintain some consistency.
“The guys they promoted are guys that are a part of their future, which is exciting, and the nice part about it. Chourio is one of those guys in the outfield that’s kind of a question mark because he’s very talented, it’s just putting all that talent together and providing reliable, consistent at-bats every single day,” Cracas said.

Chourio, who is the younger brother of Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio, was signed by Cleveland as a 16-year-old international free agent in 2022. Coming off a down season in 2025 that was impacted by a shoulder injury, Jaison Chourio quickly showed he had regained his form.
In 22 Single-A games, the switch-hitter had a .317 batting average with a .907 OPS. He had 10 walks and 10 strikeouts, with two home runs and 10 stolen bases. About to turn 21 years old, this will be his first appearance at Double-A.
As for Genao, he is now just one step below the major leagues in his sixth minor league season. With the Columbus infield losing Bazzana, and Gabriel Arias maybe on his way back to the majors coming off the injured list following his rehab stint, the time was right for Genao to move up.
He was batting .271 with a .830 OPS in 24 games for Akron. In almost 1,500 minor-league at-bats, he has a career slash line of .288/.370/.418.
Campbell may be the most interesting promotion of this group, as he finally made his professional debut this year after having nerve decompression surgery on his right elbow in May 2023, Tommy John surgery in April 2024, and right wrist surgery in October 2024. He pitched 15.0 innings over six games with Lake County, posting a 2.40 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 22 strikeouts.
These are just three of the numerous players to watch as they make their way through the Guardians’ talented pipeline.
