The Cleveland Guardians’ offense has reverted to its frustrating ways after a promising start to the season. They won on Wednesday to snap a four-game losing streak, yet they were only able to score three runs.
If it weren’t for the pitching staff, who knows where Cleveland would be? Right now, the lineup has several struggling players, such as Steven Kwan, George Valera, Bo Naylor, and Kyle Manzardo, just to name a few. Even Jose Ramirez, the superstar of the team, is hitting .222.
Two men, however, are doing their best to keep the offense afloat. Their stellar play is what you would call unexpected, given their track record before 2026.
We are talking about utilityman Daniel Schneemann and shortstop Brayan Rocchio. After years of struggles, it appears both of them are breaking out right before our eyes.
“Cleveland Guardians’ Daniel Schneemann and Brayan Rocchio over their last 15 games. Schneemann: 20-50, 9 R, 3 (2B), 4 HR, 12 RBI, 9 BB, 1 SB. AVG .400, OBP .492. Rocchio: 20-52, 8 R, 2 (2B), 2 HR, 11 RBI, 2 BB, 2 SB. AVG .385, OBP .407,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

We will need to see them dominate at this rate over a few more months to declare them stars, because every player can get hot for a couple of weeks. It’s impossible to deny that they are looking good, though.
In fact, they have been the two best and most consistent hitters in 2026 for Cleveland, alongside Chase DeLauter and Angel Martinez.
Schneemann has quietly earned more playing time and actually leads the Guardians’ position players in fWAR (1.2) and wRC+ (165). In addition to his gaudy offensive numbers, Schneemann can play all around the diamond, which increases his appeal.
Rocchio entered the 2026 campaign with three consecutive seasons with a wRC+ under 80. Now, after another dominant showing on Wednesday’s finale with three hits and a stolen base, he is at 119 for the year. That, with his amazing defense in the middle of the infield, has made him one of the most valuable Guardians of the first month.
These two blossoming young players are doing their best to keep a struggling unit afloat. They deserve every bit of praise they are getting. Now, the challenge is to keep it up over the course of the long, grueling season.
