It has been a rough beginning to the season for Cleveland Guardians catcher Bo Naylor. The 26-year-old can’t seem to find any holes despite hitting the ball hard all season long. Naylor was finally able to break through and have some success during Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Naylor extended the Guardians’ lead to two runs after blasting a solo home run to right field. It was his first home run of the season, which certainly felt great for the young slugger. After the game, Guardians manager Steven Vogt gave his honest reaction to Naylor’s homer.
“Was really good for Bo to get that result,” said Vogt.

Vogt continued by saying that Naylor has been hitting the ball hard, but unfortunately, right at fielders. It seemed like the Cleveland manager was happy that Naylor was finally able to get his first round-tripper of the season. The hope is that this will be a turning point for Naylor, who has been looking for answers all season long.
Through 15 games, Naylor is slashing .156/.224/.244 with one homer, three RBI, and four walks in 15 games. This is not an ideal start for Naylor, who also struggled to find consistency at the plate last season. The 26-year-old finished below the Mendoza line with a .195 batting average across 123 games in 2025. The Guardians are going to need better results, especially in the power category, going forward.
Luckily, Naylor is above average behind the plate and can at least be an asset defensively. He recorded a league-leading 58 assists from behind the plate last season. Naylor has yet to make an error during his 14 games behind the plate this season. At least the Guardians can trust him defensively while waiting for his bat to come around.
The former-first-round pick isn’t known for his power numbers, with only 39 career homers coming into Sunday’s game. Guardians fans should temper their expectations offensively with Naylor, but at least they’ll get above-average defense. Hopefully, Saturday’s performance will help Naylor turn it around at the plate going forward.
