The Cleveland Guardians are coming off a strong 2025 season, but a new projection suggests they may still have work to do before being considered among the American League’s elite.
In a recent social media post, BetMGM placed the Guardians in a tier labeled “somehow will win 90 games,” grouping them behind the top contenders.
“The AL East will be a gauntlet this season,” BetMGM posted.

The Guardians have built a reputation for consistently winning games despite lacking the star power or spending of some of the league’s biggest teams. That was on full display in 2025.
Cleveland finished the season with an 88-74 record, winning the AL Central. They scored 643 runs while allowing 649, showing just how often they relied on pitching and timely execution rather than overpowering opponents.
That formula has worked. But it may not be enough to take the next step.
If the Guardians are going to push into that 90-win range again, and potentially beyond, improvement at the plate will be critical. Their run production in 2025 ranked in the middle of the pack, and there were stretches where the offense struggled to generate anything.
With other American League teams improving, especially in deeper divisions, Cleveland will likely need more offensive firepower to keep pace.
The Guardians did not make any major offseason moves, choosing instead to trust their system and the progression of their young players.
If the Guardians can find more consistency at the plate and turn last year’s momentum into something more impactful, they could once again exceed expectations.
If not, they may remain exactly where this projection places them.
A good team that wins games, but still searching for the next level.
