The Cleveland Guardians will play their Spring Breakout game on Thursday, facing the Los Angeles Angels starting at 2:00 pm ET. It will be a golden chance to watch and enjoy some of the best prospects in the game.
The team revealed the official roster for the game on Wednesday. As you probably expected, the likes of Angel Genao, Jaison Chourio, Ralphy Velazquez, Cooper Ingle, Josh Hartle, Matt ‘Tugboat’ Wilkinson, Jace LaViolette, Milan Tolentino, and Khalil Watson will be present and eligible to play.

Travis Bazzana, who played last year, is not on the roster, and neither is Chase DeLauter, who is actively trying to secure a starting spot on the Guardians’ outfield.
Here are five Guardians prospects to watch in the game:
Jace LaViolette
The Guardians’ first-round draft pick last year hasn’t made his pro debut yet because he had to undergo two hand surgeries last year. The Texas A&M star is finally healthy, and fans will get a chance to witness his power in the Spring Breakout.
He hit 68 home runs in college from 2023-2025 and could be a fixture in the middle of the Guardians’ lineup in a year or two.
Khalil Watson
The 22-year-old Watson is a former first-round pick in 2021, and made some relevant strides last season between Double-A and Triple-A, hitting 16 round-trippers and stealing 17 bases. His 129 wRC+ between the two levels was also rock-solid.
He recently changed positions and is looking much better in the outfield, where he could make a tangible impact in the organization. Watson has a 1.214 spring OPS in 14 at-bats and will want to impress on Thursday.
Angel Genao
After putting up some gaudy numbers from 2021 to 2024, Genao’s production was more modest last year. Still, he managed to produce above-average offensive performance between the Complex League and Double-A, with a 110 wRC+, five home runs, and six steals in 373 plate appearances.
The shortstop, owner of an 86 wRC+ in the Cactus League, will try to put on a show on Thursday.
Jaison Chourio
Jackson’s brother is a very talented prospect in his own right. Even though his power production in the minor leagues has been mediocre to this point, he experienced some growth in that area with Aguilas del Zulia in the Venezuelan Winter League, logging six doubles, two triples, and a couple of homers in 46 games there.
He also has a double and a triple in the Cactus League, in nine games. Chourio’s plate discipline is elite, and he’s very fast, but power will determine his ceiling.
He does have an exciting playing style, though, so he will be fun to watch on Thursday for those who haven’t had the pleasure.
Josh Hartle
Hartle came over from the Pittsburgh Pirates via trade in December 2024 and has been slowly climbing up the ladder since then. The Guardians made him start in High-A last year, and he excelled in 22 starts there with a 2.35 ERA.
After a promotion to Double-A, the left-hander had a 4.50 ERA in a couple of outings. He figures to start the year in Akron and prove that he can consistently retire upper-minors hitters.
Fans will get to see the talented southpaw and his interesting style. He doesn’t have overpowering stuff, but knows how to use angles and offspeed pitches to his advantage.
