The Cleveland Guardians made several roster moves on Sunday as the team continues trimming its spring training roster ahead of the regular season.
According to a report from Tim Stebbins, the Guardians optioned outfielder Johnathan Rodríguez to Triple-A Columbus while also reassigning Kody Huff, Cooper Ingle, and Dayan Frías to minor league camp.
“The Guardians optioned Johnathan Rodríguez to Columbus and reassigned Kody Huff, Cooper Ingle and Dayan Frias to Minor League camp. Spring roster at 44,” Stebbins wrote on X.

Rodríguez, 26, appeared briefly with Cleveland during the 2025 season but struggled to make a consistent impact at the plate. In 71 at-bats, he hit .197 with two home runs and 10 RBIs. The move to Triple-A allows him to continue developing while providing organizational depth in the outfield.
The other three players were all in major league camp as non-roster invitees. Huff, a catcher originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays, joined Cleveland’s system last season and has spent time with the Columbus Clippers. Ingle, a 2023 fourth-round pick out of Clemson, is considered one of the organization’s catching prospects and has steadily worked his way through the farm system.
Frías, an infielder from Colombia, has also progressed through Cleveland’s minor league pipeline after signing with the organization in 2018. He offers defensive versatility, having played multiple infield positions during his time in the minors.
These moves are a normal part of the spring training process as teams begin narrowing down their roster ahead of Opening Day. By sending players to minor league camp or Triple-A, organizations allow younger players to continue getting regular at-bats and defensive reps while the major league roster takes shape.
With these transactions, Cleveland’s spring training roster now sits at 44 players.
More roster decisions are expected over the coming weeks as the Guardians finalize their Opening Day lineup.
