There is a lot of excitement in Cleveland Guardians camp about what George Valera, Chase DeLauter, and CJ Kayfus can add to the lineup. These three outfield prospects are positioned to carve out major roles in the 2026 lineup and hopefully they can establish themselves as foundational cornerstones for years to come.
It’s exciting to see the farm system begin to produce potential stars, but there is one more on the way who projects to be the biggest star of them all. Former No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana’s debut is a matter of when, not if, and if things keep going the way they have been this spring, that day is getting closer and closer.
After showing some major pop in Spring Training and hitting another home run in his first World Baseball Classic game for Australia, the calls begging for Bazzana to come up are getting louder. Team insider Andre Knott recently stopped by ESPN Cleveland to share his latest insight into when we might see him in the big leagues.
“I would say right around All-Star break [we’ll see Travis Bazzana in the MLB] would be my guess, give or take. If he keeps doing what he’s done so far, and he’s motivated. He has quality at-bats. He’s not up there swinging at the first pitch. He gets deep in the count,” Knott said.

Bazzana was taken first overall in the 2024 draft and was seen as someone who was close to a finished product. He was never a prospect that was going to take years and years to develop, but with Gabriel Arias at second base at the moment, it’s a little unclear where Bazzana is going to slot in if he does come up around the All-Star Break.
If Arias doesn’t start hitting, Bazzana could take his job completely. Arias had just a .638 OPS last season, and it would be hard to envision Bazzana not being an upgrade over that.
Of course, the long-term development is the most important thing for Bazzana. You never want to rush a prospect like this who has the capability to be a fixture and an All-Star for over a decade, but it’s getting harder to justify keeping him in the minors after his performance so far this spring.
