The Cleveland Guardians have revealed their starting lineup for Sunday’s spring training matchup against the Athletics.

On the mound, left-hander Parker Messick gets the start.
There are several storylines packed into this lineup. Manzardo continues to get consistent at-bats as the organization evaluates his role heading into the regular season. Bazzana’s presence at second base reinforces the club’s desire to keep him developing at that position. Fry remains a versatile option who can contribute both offensively and defensively.
Messick’s start is also worth monitoring. The left-hander has been working on refining his pitch mix, and spring outings provide a valuable testing ground as he looks to solidify his trajectory within the system.
Spring training lineups are about evaluation as much as competition. Vogt and his staff are looking for consistency, approach, and execution more than results alone. Still, each game offers players a chance to separate themselves.
