For years, Cleveland fans have watched franchise icons walk out the door.
Big names. Big moments. And eventually, big departures.
That’s what makes Jose Ramirez’s story feel different, and one national analyst just put that difference into perspective in a big way.
During a recent segment on MLB Network, analyst Adnan Virk made a strong statement about where Ramirez already stands in franchise history.
“You’ve seen guys all over the years leaving Cleveland. Big time names either getting traded or signing elsewhere. Albert Belle, Jim Thome, etc. The fact that Ramírez is going to be all-time one of the greatest Guardians ever,” Virk said.

It’s hard to argue with that.
Cleveland’s history is filled with stars who didn’t finish their careers in town. Albert Belle. Jim Thome. Both legends. Both gone before the final chapter.
That’s what makes Ramirez stand out.
While other stars chased bigger contracts or fresh starts, Ramirez doubled down on Cleveland. He’s signed extensions. He’s publicly committed to finishing his career here. And he’s repeatedly said he wants to win a World Series for this city.
That loyalty matters, especially in a smaller market.
Of course, the production speaks for itself, too.
Ramirez isn’t just sticking around. He’s dominating.
Year after year, he’s among the most complete players in baseball. Power, speed, defense, clutch hitting, he checks every box. He’s been the heartbeat of the lineup, the leader in the clubhouse, and the one constant through roster changes, rebuilds, and playoff pushes.
At this point, it’s not about whether he’s one of the best players in franchise history.
It’s about how high he’ll climb on that list.
