There isn’t much left for Jose Ramirez to prove at this point in his career, but the national recognition keeps piling up anyway.
The Cleveland Guardians superstar just earned another major nod this week, landing at the very top of a new position ranking from MLB Network.
On a recent segment, MLB Network’s “Shredder” rankings named Jose Ramirez the No. 1 third baseman in baseball right now, placing him ahead of some of the biggest stars in the game.

The list included names like Max Muncy, Alex Bregman, Manny Machado, and Austin Riley — but Ramirez sat alone at the top.
For Guardians fans, it’s not exactly breaking news.
It’s just validation.
Ramirez has quietly been one of the most complete players in baseball for years. Power, contact, speed, defense, durability — there aren’t many holes in his game. While other players at the position may excel in one or two areas, Ramirez does a little bit of everything at an elite level.
And he does it every single season.
Even in years when the Guardians’ offense has struggled overall, Ramirez has remained the constant. Pencil him in for 25-plus home runs, extra-base hits all over the field, aggressive baserunning, and Gold Glove-caliber defense at third. That level of consistency is rare.
It’s also why rankings like this keep happening.
What separates Ramirez from many of the other names on the list is reliability. There are flashier sluggers and bigger markets, but few players impact the game as many ways, as often, as he does. He’s the engine that keeps Cleveland’s lineup moving.
It’s worth noting that this recognition comes at an interesting time, too. With the Guardians once again leaning on young talent and internal development, having the best third baseman in baseball anchoring the roster provides a pretty strong foundation.
No matter what questions exist elsewhere, Ramirez gives Cleveland a legitimate superstar to build around.
And maybe the most impressive part? He still plays with the same edge and work ethic as someone trying to earn a job, not someone sitting atop league-wide rankings.
