Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez is regarded as one of the top players in the game, evidenced by his third-place finish in the voting for 2025 AL MVP. The third baseman is as well-rounded as they come.
Like any player of his caliber, it takes a year-round effort to stay at the top, especially as one gets older. The 33-year-old is no exception, and he is already preparing for the 2026 campaign.
A recent video showed Ramirez putting in offseason work in his hometown.
“Cleveland Guardians Jose Ramirez putting in work at Golds Gym in his hometown of Bani in the Dominican Republic. Ramirez looks like he’s added some muscle as he gets ready for his 14th season in the big leagues,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

Last season, Ramirez batted .283 with 30 home runs and 44 stolen bases for his second straight 30-30 campaign. He was named an AL All-Star for the seventh time, won his sixth Silver Slugger Award, and trailed only Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners and Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees in the MVP voting.
It could be argued that Ramirez deserved to win the award for the first time after he helped the Guardians make history in capturing the AL Central. Cleveland trailed by as many as 15.5 games, and by 11 at one point in September, before overcoming the largest deficit to ever win an MLB division.
Unfortunately, their playoff run ended with an AL Wild Card loss to the Detroit Tigers. That result was especially disappointing after the Guardians reached the ALCS the previous year.
Ramirez is one of the best active players to never make it to the World Series. In addition, Cleveland hasn’t won the title in almost 80 years.
Having that goal in mind could be why Ramirez is working so hard.
